Music
Music is a branch of the arts that consists of sounds arranged either through the human voice (vocals), nature or the environment, and instruments created by humans to produce rhythmic sounds. A well-crafted musical composition can convey the thoughts, emotions, and, at times, the cultural context of its creator.
Music, in the context of performance, refers to a live presentation delivered creatively to an audience, whether performed by a soloist or an ensemble.
In line with contemporary developments, the diversity of musical genres has expanded rapidly and significantly influenced community life in Malaysia. Nevertheless, traditional music genres particularly those of the Malay community, the ethnic groups of Sarawak and Sabah, the Orang Asli, as well as the Chinese and Indian communities constitute important musical elements that must be safeguarded, preserved, and transmitted to future generations.
For example, the nobat ensemble is considered a special and exclusive form of music, as it is a royal music tradition performed only during palace ceremonies or events.
