The Kota Tampan Archaeological Site is located in Kota Tampan, Lenggong, Perak, and is one of the earliest and most significant Paleolithic sites in Malaysia. The site is identified as a Paleolithic stone tool production workshop, used by prehistoric humans around 74,000 years ago. Kota Tampan is one of the oldest sites demonstrating early human activity in Peninsular Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
Research at Kota Tampan has been conducted systematically by local researchers and universities since the 20th century. The site provides insights into Paleolithic stone tool technology, human adaptation to the environment, and early community life. Kota Tampan is now part of the Lenggong Archaeological Heritage Valley, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with artifacts from the site displayed at the Lenggong Valley Archaeological Gallery.
