Bahagian Warisan Tidak Ketara
Bertanggungjawab melaksanakan usaha pemuliharaan, pemeliharaan, perlindungan dan pengekalan warisan adat dan budaya, seni persembahan, bahasa dan persuratan serta seni halus melalui penyelidikan, pendokumentasian, program-program pengembangan dan kesedaran serta promosi warisan kebudayaan tidak ketara kepada masyarakat tempatan dan luar negara.
Bidang adat dan budaya merangkumi kepercayaan, budaya lingkungan, adat kitaran seperti adat istiadat, makanan, permainan tradisi, perubatan tradisional dan seni pertahanan diri. Seni persembahan pula merangkumi muzik, tarian dan teater. Manakala, bidang bahasa dan persuratan mencakupi bahasa, tulisan Jawi, manuskrip, lagu rakyat, cerita rakyat, puisi Melayu tradisional dan sebagainya. Seni halus pula merangkumi busana, tekstil, perhiasan diri dan kraf. Bahagian ini juga bertanggungjawab mengenalpasti mana-mana orang hidup yang bergiat aktif dan berpengetahuan luas dalam bidang warisan untuk dicalonkan sebagai Tokoh Warisan Orang Hidup (WAKOH). Pengiktirafan butiran warisan tidak ketara turut dibawa ke UNESCO untuk mendapatkan status Warisan Dunia.

Malaysia is a multi-racial and multi-ethnic country consisting of 3 main races, namely Malay, Chinese and Indian, while East Malaysia itself consists of hundreds of indigenous ethnicities. The diversity of races and a long history make Malaysia a unique country with different cultural backgrounds. The differences in religion, culture and customs of each race and ethnicity are celebrated and respected to maintain the harmony and peace of the country. Cultural customs that encompass all aspects of community life have developed through the tradition of inheritance from one generation to another and have been practiced for generations, influencing a large part of the lifestyle of Malaysian society and becoming the identity of each race.
Therefore, the Intangible Heritage Division through the Cultural Customs Branch plays a role in carrying out research, documentation and awareness activities as well as development to preserve and educate the community regarding cultural heritage in Malaysia. Our cultural customs heritage should be appreciated because it is this diversity and assimilation of culture that has shaped the landscape of Malaysia today so that Malaysia is known all over the world. The Cultural Customs Branch focuses on the following aspects:-

3. Traditional medicine
4. Traditional games
5. Self-defense
