National Heritage Act 2005 (Act 645)

National Heritage Act 2005 [Act 645] is to enforce the provisions of the Act for the conservation and preservation of the national heritage, natural heritage, cultural heritage, tangible and intangible, underwater cultural heritage and treasures as well as related matters.
645 Act accepted by the Parliament on December 7, 2005 and assented by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on 31 December 2005. This Act came into force on 1 March 2006 by abolishing the two (2) previous Act, the Antiquities Act 1976 and Treasure Trove Act 1957 ,
645 Act contains 17 sections comprising 126 sections related to conservation and preservation of heritage. Act 645 provides power to the Minister to formulate policies related to the conservation and preservation of heritage, the appointment of the Commissioner of Heritage, Council and Enforcement Officer and the appointment of officers to assist the Commissioner of Heritage and Member of the National Heritage Council is exercising the functions and responsibilities as outlined in the Act. Therefore, all matters relating to the conservation and preservation of heritage are subject to 645 Act.
Any non-compliance with any of the provisions of 645 Act is an offense which may be compounded, fines or imprisonment
